General Description
Plants from a branched caudex. Stems erect to ascending, simple, 15–40 cm. Herbage densely puberulent. Leaves basal and cauline; basal petiolate; blades oblanceolate to oblong, entire to serrate, 2–8 cm long, 1-veined; cauline becoming narrower and entire upward. Inflorescence linear-secund, often curved. Involucres narrowly campanulate, 4–6 mm high; phyllaries narrowly oblanceolate. Rays 5 to 11; ligules 1–3 mm long. Disk flowers 3 to 10; corollas 4–5 mm long. Achenes 1–2 mm long, strigose (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
