General Description
Mat-forming, subacaulescent perennial with a branched caudex from a heavy taproot. Stems ascending, 1–2 cm. Herbage glabrous. Leaflets oblanceolate, serrulate above, 5–8 mm long; stipules lanceolate, sheathing the stem. Racemes terminal, of 1 to 4 flowers, barely longer than the leaves subtended by 4 small bracts united below. Flowers magenta, 13–18 mm long; calyx glabrous; sepals deltoid,1–3 mm long, subequal. Legume glabrous, 5–15 mm long with 1 to 4 seeds (Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
