General Description
Taprooted, forming loose to dense mats. Stems ascending to erect, 4–10 cm, glabrous to pubescent. Leaves firm, linear, 7–15 mm long, glabrate to villous. Flowers solitary; calyx sparsely villous, 6–9 mm long with keeled intercostal membranes; corolla white, the tube 8–12 mm long, lobes 4–8 mm long; style 2–5 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Range Comments
OR to MT south to CA, AZ, UT, CO and Mexico. One collection from Beaverhead County (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

POLLINATORS
The following animal species have been reported as pollinators of this plant species or its genus where their geographic ranges overlap: Bombus vagans, Bombus flavifrons, Bombus melanopygus, Bombus pensylvanicus, Bombus bimaculatus, Bombus griseocollis, Bombus impatiens, and Bombus kirbiellus (Shaw and Taylor 1986, Colla and Dumesh 2010).
