General Description
Perennial from a woody, branched caudex. Stems ascending to erect, simple, 30–70 cm. Herbage densely hirsute, hispid. Leaves cauline, sessile, lanceolate, 3–8 cm long. Inflorescence branched, bracteate, terminal, helicoid cymes. Flowers: calyx hispid, deeply divided into unequal segments, 6–12 mm long; corolla villous, white with green lobes, tubular-funnelform, 12–14 mm long, lobes 2–3 mm long; fornices absent; anthers at the top of the tube; style exserted; anthers and style maturing before the corolla opens. Nutlets 1–4, ovate, smooth, 3–5 mm long; scar basal without a rim (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
