General Description
Perennial with basal turions. Stems erect, 20–40 cm. Herbage glabrate. Leaves opposite, lanceolate, sessile or short-petiolate, sometimes clasping, 2–5 cm long, serrulate. Inflorescence a leafy-bracted raceme, erect or nodding in bud. Flowers white to purple; hypanthium 1–2 mm long, puberulent; sepals 1–4 mm long; petals 2–5 mm long. Capsule pedicelate, 20–55 mm long, glandular-pubescent; seeds papillose with a deciduous coma (Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
