General Description
Stems erect, spineless, 0.5–1.5 m. Twigs with sparse, sessile glands, puberulent, tan becoming gray. Leaf blades 3–15 cm wide, 3- to 5-lobed, cordate, dentate, crystaline-glandular beneath, pubescent to glabrous, aromatic. Inflorescence ascending, 10- to 40-flowered. Flowers bowl-shaped, white, 2–5 mm long, pubescent to glabrous, glandular; calyx lobes 2–4 mm long, lanceolate; petals white, 1–2 mm long; stamens as long as petals; styles glabrous, united half way. Berry black, 4–10 mm long, mostly glabrous, unpalatable (Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
