General Description
Rhizomatous. Stems simple, 50–100 cm. Herbage tomentose. Leaves opposite, ascending to spreading; blades lanceolate to ovate, sometimes cordate-based, 5–20 cm. Umbels of 10 to 40 flowers; peduncles 2–8 cm long. Flowers 15–25 mm high; sepals tomentose, 3–6 mm long; petals rose, 7–12 mm long, pubescent; gynostegium pinkish, glabrous, 2–4 mm high; hoods lanceolate, spreading, 8–15 mm long; horns exserted, strongly curved. Follicles erect to ascending, ovoid, tuberculate, tomentose, 5–10 cm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
