General Description
Rhizomatous perennial. Stems erect, simple below, 20–90 cm. Leaf blades narrowly lanceolate to oblanceolate, 4–12 cm long; pinnately runcinately lobed to entire. Involucre 11–18 mm high; phyllaries erect in fruit. Rays 15 to 50, blue; ligules 7–12 mm long. Achenes 4–5 mm long; beaks up to 1 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
