General Description
Shrubs 20–150 cm. Twigs dark, long-hairy, becoming glabrous. Leaf blades 2–7 cm long, elliptic with entire to denticulate margins, sparsely long-hairy above and beneath, not glaucous. Female catkins emerge with the leaves, 1–4 cm long on leafy branchlets 5–25 mm long; scales light brown, long-hairy. Capsules glabrous to rarely pubescent, 4–5 mm long; stipe 1 mm or less long; style 0.5–1 mm long (
