General Description
Shrub or rarely a tree to 6 m. Twigs reddish-brown, glabrous. Leaf blades elliptic, short-acuminate, 4–12 cm long, glabrous. Inflorescence a cylindric, many-flowered raceme 5–12 cm long. Flowers: hypanthium cup-shaped, 1–2 mm long, glabrous; sepals deltoid, glandular-dentate, up to 1 mm long; petals 3–6 mm long. Drupe a red cherry becoming black, 5–8 mm long dry.
