General Description
Stems 8–30 cm. Leaves: blades 1–2 mm wide. Inflorescence a narrow panicle 2–8 cm long. Spikelets 6–10 mm long. Lemmas awn-tipped or with an awn 1–7 mm long (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
