General Description
Stems 10–30 cm. Leaves: blades 0.5–0.8 mm wide, essentially hairless at the throat; ligule <0.5 mm long. Inflorescence a contracted panicle 10–14 cm long. Spikelet 8–10 mm long. Lemmas with dense spreading long hairs, with an awn 15–20 mm long (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
Collected in Gallatin County throughout most of western North America (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Habitat
