General Description
Biennial to short-lived perennial bunchgrass. Stems 20–150 cm, often single-stemmed in lawn settings. Leaves: blades 3–6 mm wide. Inflorescence 15–40 cm long. Spikelets 10–30 mm long, glumes about as long as an individual floret. Lemmas often 10 to 20 per spikelet, keeled, at least the upper ones with an awn 5–15 mm long (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012.
