General Description
Stems 10–50 cm. Leaves: blades 1–4 mm wide; sheaths essentially hairless and collar hairy; ligule 0.5–0.7 mm long. Inflorescence a contracted panicle or raceme 3–6 cm long, with 4 to 10 spikelets. Spikelets 11–15 mm long, with 4 to 7 florets. Lemmas tightly enfolded by the glumes, 3–6 mm long, hairless except along margins, with awns 6–8 mm long (Lavin in
