General Description
Rhizomatous. Stems single to few-bunched, 20–50 cm. Leaves: blades 2–3 mm broad. Inflorescence a contracted panicle 5–10 cm long. Spikelets 3.5–6 mm long. Lemma with a bent awn barely if at all surpassing the glume tips, callus hairs one-half to two-thirds as long as lemma (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
