Prosartes hookeri is a relatively common and widespread species of forested habitats in western Montana. While statewide population numbers are unknown, they are believed to be robust and well above the minimum levels needed to maintain the species' viability in the state. No significant and widespread threats to the species have been identified.

General Description
Stems 25–90 cm. Leaves 5–15 cm long, short-hairy below, nearly glabrous above with uniformly forward-pointing short hairs on the margins. Flowers: tepals 8–15 mm long, linear-elliptic; ovary and style base hairy. Berry 7–10 mm long, apiculate (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
