Known in Montana from two historical collections (Flathead and Missoula Counties).
 
General Description
Caespitose annual to perennial. Stems ascending to erect, 10–60 cm. Leaves mainly basal, 2–10 mm wide, flat. Inflorescence of ovoid to hemispheric clusters of spikes of sessile spikelets. Spikelets cylindric, 4–10 mm long. Scales pale brown with a green midvein, 3–4 mm long, several-veined. Flowers: stamens 3; style 3-branched. Achene narrowly elliptic, dark brown, 3-sided, ca. 2 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
