General Description
Rhizomatous perennial. Stems erect, branched, 8–60 cm, often sterile. Herbage glabrate to scabrous. Leaves narrowly lanceolate, 1–4 cm long, in whorls of 4. Inflorescence dense, terminal, many-flowered, bracteate panicles; pedicels 1–2 mm long in fruit. Flowers: corolla 3–5 mm across. Mericarp ca. 1 mm long, hirsute (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
