General Description
Plants submerged below, floating above. Stems 2–25 cm. Leaves joined together around the stem; submerged leaves linear, 3–15 mm long; floating leaves oblong, 2–5 mm wide. Flowers usually 1 male and 1 female per bracteate axil. Fruit oblong, ca. 1 mm wide and long, not winged (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
