Diagnostic Characteristics
Lesica (2012) distinguishes variety intermedia from others by the following combination of characters: stems not glandular; fruits 12 mm or less long; pedicels 6-13 mm long.

Range Comments
The distribution is not easily determined given that some authors now include this variety within variety brachycarpa.
