General Description
Stems 30–80 cm. Cauline leaves 2–25 cm long, recurved at the tip. Involucre 2–3 cm high, to 5 cm in fruit; peduncle inflated and tapering to the involucre. Rays purple; ligules 15–20 mm long; the outer shorter or equal to the phyllaries. Achene 2–3 cm long including the beak (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press.
