State Rank Reason (see State Rank above)
Tragopogon miscellus does not occur in Europe, but is a hybrid, born in North America from the union of Tragopogon pratensis and Tragopogon dubuis (Soltis in Flora of North America 2006). Tragopogon miscellus is an allotetraploid, formed (probably repeatedly) from hybrids between its parents species which are both non-native species in North America (Soltis in Flora of North America 2006). In 1997, Tragopogon miscellus was collected in Yellowstone National Park, Park County, Montana. Revisits to the location found that the plant is no longer present (Soltis in Flora of North America 2006; Lesica et al. 2022). A conservation status rank is not applicable (SNA) because Tragopogon miscellus is not known to persist or have established populations in Montana, and is not a suitable target for conservation activities.
