Diagnostic Characteristics
Subspecies tridentata is typically over 1 meter tall. Its leaves are gradually tapered towards the base. The inflorescences typically arise from throughout the crown (foliage) of the plant. The involucre is 1.5-2.5 mm long.

Range Comments
BC, AB south to CA east to NM; most widespread in the Great Basin (Kartesz 2009).
