State Rank Reason (see State Rank above)
Lomatium bicolor (S. Watson) J.M. Coult. & Rose is not known to occur in Montana. Rather it is a plant that occurs in northern Utah, western Wyoming, Idaho, and southwestern Washington (Consortium of Pacific Northwest Herbaria 2025). Lomatium bicolor was reported for Montana based on plants that shared similar characteristics (Lesica et al. 2012). However, it has since been determined that Montana’s plants from Ravalli, Sanders, and Lincoln counties belong to Lomatium brunsfeldianum Kemper & R.P. McNeill (Lesica et al. 2022; McNeill 2012). Thus, the name of Lomatium bicolor and Lomatium bicolor var. bicolor were misapplied to Montana’s plant specimens. A conservation status rank is not applicable (SNA) because the plant is not known to occur in Montana.
