Taxonomy of some Oreohelix species remains unresolved, including this species. Species also lacks recent observations and other data used to assess rank. Until these issues are resolved the species is unrankable.
General Description
Frest and Johannes (1995) describe the shell of the Brunson Mountainsnail as large, up to 30mm and 5.5 whorls, for the genus. For a further, and more complete, species description including juvenile features see Frest and Johannes (1995).
Range Comments
Originally found in Gallatin and Missoula counties, Bitteroot and Sage Mountains, including sites in the Lolo National Forest; currently known from only one site in the Bitterroot Mountains (Frest and Johannes 1995).
Migration
Sedentary.

Threats or Limiting Factors
Areas with this species have been strongly negatively affected in recent years by forest fires, road building, and logging (Frest and Johannes 1995).
