The Hooded Oriole breeds in California south and east into southern Nevada, western and southern Arizona, southwestern New Mexico and southern Texas (Sibley 2014). In Montana, this species has a couple of historic spring records but none in the past decade (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
