The Golden-crowned Sparrow breeds from Alaska south through the Northwest Territories and British Columbia (Sibley 2014). This species winters from southwestern British Columbia south through western Washington, Oregon, and California (Sibley 2014). In Montana, the Golden-crowned Sparrow has had several spring and fall records over the past decade (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
