The Black-throated Sparrow breeds from south-central Washington south through eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho, Nevada, Utah, southeastern California, Arizona, and New Mexico (Sibley 2014). In Montana, this species has a few spring and summer records (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
