The Golden-winged Warbler breeds locally from northern Georgia north through western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, eastern Kentucky, western Virginia and West Virginia; north through Pennsylvania, New York, and west through southern Ontario, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and southern Manitoba (Sibley 2014). In Montana, this species has a couple of records over the past decade (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
