The Laughing Gull breeds along the Atlantic Coast from north-central Maine to Florida, Georgia, and the Gulf Coast of southern Texas (Burger 2015). This species winters from North Carolina south through its breeding range and along the west coast of Baja California (Burger 2015). In Montana, the Laughing Gull has no records over the past decade but does have historic spring and summer observations (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
