Migration
In Bozeman migration occurs from May 3 to May 15 and September 7 to September 27, with peaks on May 8 and September 15 (Skaar 1969).

Habitat
Migrating birds are normally observed on open, sandy or gravelly habitats along rivers or beaches (Johnsgard 1986).
