General Description
Shrubs 2–4 m. Twigs purplish, appressed-hairy. Leaf blades 2–5 cm long, lanceolate, oblanceolate, or elliptic, green and sparsely hairy above, glaucous beneath; margins usually entire or shallowly toothed. Female catkins emerge with the leaves, 1–8 cm long on leafy branchlets 5–10 mm long; scales tan, hairy. Capsules 5–8 mm long, hairy, long-beaked; stipes 2–5 mm long; style <0.5 mm long (
