Common and widespread in moist forests of western Montana.
 
General Description
Stems 10–25 cm from ascending rhizomes. Leaves solitary or absent, sparsely hairy to glabrous; the blade with 3 oblanceolate, lobed or toothed leaflets 2–6 cm long. Inflorescence 1-flowered, subtended by 3 leaf-like, petiolate, trifoliolate bracts; the oblanceolate leaflets to 7 cm long. Flowers with 5 to 7 white sepals 7–15 mm long. Achenes in a globose head, short-hairy, 2–4 mm long; the beak 1 mm or less long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
