Diagnostic Characteristics
Differs from the typical subspecies by its smaller flowers (3 mm or less in diameter) and mostly spatulate leaf blades (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
In MT in Mission Mountains (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX). Elsewhere from BC and MT south to CA, NV, and UT (Kartesz 2009).

The following animal species have been reported as pollinators of this plant species or its genus where their geographic ranges overlap: Bombus vagans, Bombus ternarius, Bombus pensylvanicus, and Bombus impatiens (Colla and Dumesh 2010, Williams et al. 2014).
