General Description
Plants from horizontal or inclined rhizomes. Stems erect, 7–40 cm. Herbage glabrate, sparsely arachnoid in leaf axils. Leaves basal and cauline; blades ovate to oblanceolate, 1–12 cm long, entire to minutely serrate, becoming linear-lanceolate and sessile above. Inflorescence corymbiform, of 3 to 12 heads. Heads radiate; involucres 6–9 mm high; phyllaries ca. 13, glabrous to sparsely arachnoid, conspicuously black-tipped. Rays 5 to 13; ligules 6–12 mm long. Disk corollas 6–8 mm long.
