General Description
Root tuberous, often branched. Stems 10–70 cm. Herbage glabrous, punctate; leaves ciliate. Leaf blades linear, 2–15 cm long. Involucres campanulate, 7–15 mm high; phyllaries in 3 to 6 series, oblong to oblanceolate, glandular-punctate, mucronate; inner purple. Disk flowers 4 to 8; ligules 6–14 mm long.
