General Description
Stems 10–30 cm. Leaves: blades 0.5–0.8 mm wide, essentially hairless at the throat; ligule <0.5 mm long. Inflorescence a contracted panicle 10–14 cm long. Spikelet 8–10 mm long. Lemmas with dense spreading long hairs, with an awn 15–20 mm long (Lavin in Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
