General Description
Perennial bunchgrass. Stems 20–60 cm. Leaves: blades 1–2 mm wide. Inflorescence a contracted secund panicle 4–11 cm long, usually <1 cm wide. Spikelets 4–7 mm long, the fertile ones with 2 to 5 florets. Lemmas 3–5 mm long, mostly awn-tipped (Lavin in Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
Collected in Ravalli County; introduced mainly in eastern and western North America (Lavin in Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Habitat
Creeksides draining hot springs, expected along roadsides similarly disturbed settings, occasionally a pasture grass (Lavin in Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
