Turion Duckweed - Lemna turionifera

Lesica (2012) includes this species within synonymy of L. minor. It can be distinguished by others in the genus by the presence of turions. Some species in the genus, including L. turionifera are reportedly distinct by chemotaxonomic differences (Kaul, 1986, in Flora of the Great Plains).
As recognized by Kartesz (in prep. 2012), the species occurs widely across North America apart from the southeast.
