General Description
Plants submerged to terrestrial. Stems 3–15 cm. Leaves joined together around the stem, linear to oblong, 5–10 mm long. Flowers usually 1 male and 1 female per bracteate axil. Fruit nearly round in outline, ca. 1.5 mm long with a conspicuous, whitish, wing-margin around the entire circumference (Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
Eastern and northwest N. America, Europe. This species may be introduced in Missoula and Ravalli counties (Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
