General Description
Plants 0.5–2 m. Stems ascending to erect, 1–2 m; twigs glabrate to tomentose. Leaves linear, 1–6 cm long, glabrous to tomentose; axillary fascicles absent. Inflorescence corymbiform, rounded. Involucres obconic, 6–12 mm high; phyllaries imbricate, lanceolate, mostly whitish, resinous, glabrate to tomentose. Rays absent. Disk flowers 4 to 6; corolla 5–10 mm long. Achenes tubular-obconic, 3–8 mm long, hairy (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
