General Description
Loosely mat-forming from a branched caudex. Stems ascending to erect, 10–40 cm. Basal leaves erect, linear-oblanceolate, 3–9 cm long, 3-nerved. Stem leaves linear to lanceolate, 1–7 cm long. Inflorescence open- to dense-corymbiform with numerous heads. Involucre: female 5–6 mm high; male 4–5 mm high. Phyllaries light brown with white tips. Corolla both sexes 2–3 mm long. Pappus 3–5 mm long. Achenes 1–2 mm long, nearly glabrous ( Lesica 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
