General Description
Small dioecious trees to 15 m. Twigs glabrate to pilose. Leaves 3-
or -(rarely)5-foliolate; leaflets pubescent on veins beneath, lanceolate to ovate, coarsely few-toothed, 3–8 cm long; lateral pair asymmetric. Inflorescence: female flowers in pendent racemes from axillary buds; male flowers fascicled. Flowers unisexual, green; sepals ca. 1 mm long; petals absent. Samara 2–3 cm long, the seed ca. 1 cm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
