General Description
In North America, the Whimbrel breeds in Alaska through Western Yukon and the Northwest Territories as well as along the southern portion of Hudson Bay. The species winters along both coasts from North Carolina and southern British Columbia south to Tierra del Fuego. The Whimbrel is an uncommon migrant through Montana with fewer than six observations reported in a typical year (Skeel et al. 1996, MTNHP 2019).
