Distribution Comments
Known from Alaska, British Columbia, and Montana (Lawton 1971). Also from Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Labrador, Yukon and Northwest Territories (Ireland et al. 1987). Japan (Honshu), Siberia, Europe (Noguchi 1991). Smith (1980) gives the European range as western and central Europe, Iceland, and Caucasus. Also from northern Europe, Svalbard, north Africa, Turkey, central, eastern and northern Asia (Hill et al 1994). In Fennoscandia, the species is widespread in suitable localities (Nyholm 1954-69).
Habitat
On soil in rock crevices and fens in the arctic-alpine zone. Usually in moist calcareous habitats.
