The Yellow-bellied Flycatcher breeds across the boreal forests of Canada, the northeastern United States, and the northern Great Lakes. The species overwinters from Mexico to Panama and is an uncommon migrant through Montana with fewer than five observations reported in a typical year (Gross et al 2011, MTNHP 2019).
