Migration
Most of Montana is west of the main spring migration. There is a more extensive migration in fall (Skaar, no date). In Bozeman migration occurs from August 20 to October 5, with a peak on September 20 (Skaar 1969).

Habitat
Migrants are seen along prairie marshes or potholes. They are often found near grassy cover rather than on open mud flats (Johnsgard 1986).
