Migration
Subspecies solitaria is found mostly east of the Rockies; subspecies cinnamomea is found in the Rockies and to the west. Spring arrival is between April 30 and May 4 across Montana (Davis 1961).

Habitat
In the Bozeman area they occur on the edges of brushy sloughs and occasionally on open mudflats (Skaar 1969).
