General Description
Stems floating, 10–60 cm. Leaves 2–5 mm wide, not keeled. Inflorescence unbranched with usually 1 sessile male head and 1 to 4, sessile or pedunculate female heads, 7–12 mm wide at maturity. Styles unbranched. Achenes fusiform, 2–4 mm long, abruptly tapered to the ca. 1 mm long beak (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
