General Description
Perennial bunchgrass. Stems few-bunched, 20–40 cm. Leaves: blades 2–4 mm wide; ligules 1.5–3.5 mm long. Inflorescence a nodding open panicle 5–13 cm long, the branches delicate and capillary, the lowermost often oriented downward. Spikelets 4–6 mm long. Lemmas with a cobwebby base, hairy on keel and especially along the marginal veins (Lavin in
